About Tanya...
Tanya Dougherty is a classically trained actor, audiobook narrator and writer currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. She earned her BFA in her home country of Australia, before following the call to expand her craft and love of travel by moving overseas to complete an MFA at Brandeis University in Boston.
Years of voice training and live performance give her flexibility, nuance and command over her vocal range to create unique characters and ground performances with authenticity and emotion. Favourite genres to perform include YA, Fantasy, Rom Com, children's and middle grade, gothic romance, historical fiction and stories that explore how to heal from the past and step into the fullness of who you can become now.
She is a company member of the Obie Award winning Mettawee River Theatre Company whose original theatre productions include masks, giant figures, puppets, songs, and movement and are devised from diverse cultural myths from around the globe.

A passionate advocate for children's literacy, Tanya has performed hundreds of read-alouds in Libraries and schools for at risk communities helping kids and families discover how truly joyful and empowering it is to be a reader.

She is the writer and co-producer of a new audio drama for kids and families called "Ruby, Tooth Fairy Detective and The Case of the Wishing Tooth" that will be released as an episodic podcast in the Fall of 2025.

Outside of the booth, she can be found spoiling her two young cats, planning her next rock concert adventure with her husband, researching haunted victorian hotels to visit, roller skating, swimming, thrifting, shopping for whimsical jewellery pieces and of course...reading.
